The Madison County Historical Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to educate our citizenry and visitors about the county’s unique history, archeology, architecture, and cultural heritage. The MCHS board also collaborates with governmental entities, educational institutions, and public/private businesses and organizations to promote, protect, and preserve Madison County history and heritage.

Recent News

"Footprints" Honored with Awards

Footprints: Traces of Black History in Richmond, Kentucky, recently published in a joint project between the Richmond Tourism Commission and the Madison County Historical Society, has been honored with two state awards.
 
On May 14th, 2024 the publication will receive the Blue Grass Trust Historical Preservation Clay Lancaster Award. On June 1, 2024 it will receive the Kentucky Historical Society Publication Award.
 
We congratulate those involved with this project and we are grateful to have such a project recognized by these awards.

Events

Meeting Schedule of the Madison County Historical Society

Regular meeting date is the 3rd Thursday of each month.  Meeting location will be in the Community Room of the Madison County Library at the corner of West Main and 5thStreet.

Presentations, when possible, are also live on Zoom.

Regular meeting time is 6:30 PM.  Publicity will be made via Facebook, email, and the Community Calendar in the Richmond Register and Berea Citizen.
