On August 22, 2009 the first group of Madison County Heritage Walk of Fame plaques were dedicated. Charles Hay, treasurer of the Historical Society, served as master of ceremony. Remarks were made by Bill Adams, president of the Historical Society, Richmond Mayor Connie Lawson, Berea Mayor Steve Connelly, and Linda Ginter, executive assistant to Madison County Judge Executive Kent Clark.
